The decision

Why v2.0 cut the headline feature

v1.0 picked your next task for you. Testing showed that was the wrong call.

Problem

Productivity apps charge a subscription and make you sign in to see your own to-do list.

Bet

Run everything on the iPhone. No account, no server, private by default.

What I tried in v1.0

An engine that picked your next task automatically.

What I learned

In complicated scenarios users had no control, and could miss something important.

Decision

Automatic task picking
Cut it. Redesign v2.0 around a workflow the user controls.

Result

  • v2.0 in final testing
Before and after

v1.0 next to v2.0

v1.0

The app decided what you should do next.

→users lost control
v2.0

You capture, plan, and decide. The app keeps it organized.
